The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of David Pilotte can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Dear Jan, I was so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I still can't quite believe it. Please know that you are in my family's thoughts and prayers. Dave has always been on my "so glad our paths crossed" list. Meeting by chance as a kid in my first real job, at a local restaurant, Dave's wonderful gifts were immediately apparent. With my older brother, Peter, already a workmate of Dave's, I was quickly christened "RePete." "Pete and RePete," David laughed, moments after our meeting. Then, he was back to work with that determined stride of his. Dave was one cool guy. At the Chuck Wagon restaurant, Dave was always the one with the patience, leadership, quick smile and kindness that was the heart of the place. He touched everyone, and not just through his careful meal preparation. He seemed to care about everyone and everything he came into contact with. He was someone you were glad to know. As we ran into each other over the passing years, that forever-youthful twinkle remained in his eyes, assuring me that our shared memories of closing "kitchen beer" and salad bar garbanzo beans were alive and well. It was always a pleasure seeing you both, as we all grew older. I feel very fortunate to have known and worked with Dave and will miss him. My heart goes out to you, Jan, and please know that a great many of us were made better people, and our community a better place, because of him – and the loving example you both showed us.
