Condolence From: Laurie Mann Jones
Condolence: I met Katherine as my professor in my first year (1969-1970)at the University of Maine in Orono, ME. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and that first course in Food & Nutrition, which she taught with such enthusiasm changed the course of my life. I became a registered dietitian and stayed in touch through the years. We ran into each other on a visit to Orono for Homecoming in the 80's and would see each other at many ADA Annual conventions. At one of those in the late 90's we had lunch and she convinced me I needed to go on and get my Doctorate as I was still young and you can teach forever. Well I took her advise and kept in touch via email throughout the 8 years it took me to complete my Doctorate in Education. I would not have tackled it while working full time without her complete confidence that I could and would do it. She was an inspiration to many and so many others. The last time I saw her was at an ADA convention I believe in Orlando or San Diego and she had taken a spill off a curb. Even banged up it did not slow her down from getting to every session she had planned to visit or participate in. She made everyone around her better because she was there. She has been an inspiration to me my whole adult life. I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of her presence in this world. Few people can make the lasting impression that she made on so many people's lives. I'm sure she's organizing heaven right now. She will be missed.

Condolence: I was so saddened to hear of Katherine's passing. Katherine was my office neighbor for almost 10 years at St. Joe's. We facilitated many groups together about behavioral food issues. Katherine was absolutely one of my favorite people and we shared many talks and stories over the years, staying in touch after both of our tenures at St Joe's. My friends often hear me starting a food conversation with " Katherine says...."!
She will be missed, and having known her will be a treasured memory for me.

Condolence: Katherine and Stan were our neighbors on Old Kelley Ave. in Orono for over thirty years. We first met them cross country skiing in the fields behind our houses. They were avid early-morning walkers, too, as we were, and we looked forward to exchanging greetings as we tromped up Kelly Road each day in the dark.

Katherine kept the neighborhood together by hosting wonderful, old fashioned neighborhood gatherings. You don't see that much anymore. We are so glad we had a final visit with Katherine in April when she went to a play with us and then out to dinner. She was such a good conversationalist, and interesting to be with. We thought she would live forever, and she will in our memories.

Condolence: I met Mrs Musgrave in 1978 when I enrolled in the Food and Nutrition Department at the University of Maine. I went on to become a Registered Dietitian. Throughout the years, we saw each other often, especially when we served on The Maine Dietetic Assoication Board together. In my work (as a Dietitian)there were times I called Mrs Musgrave for insight into a patient's particular dietary needs. If I was considering a change in job positions, I often called Mrs Musgrave for her input. Aside from the professional aspect, Mrs Musgrave was a friend. Katherine, we will miss you but our memories and all you taught us will always be with us.

Condolence: I had the pleasure of meeting Kathleen's mom, Katherine, at her grandson, Jack's wedding rehearsal dinner. We sat and talked about many things and she had a wit about her that made me laugh and I loved her little stories she told me. She was an animated "lady" and that's exactly what I thought of her was a LADY! You don't come across to many of them nowadays! I keep the family in my prayers and I am so glad I was honored to meet her and she left a mark in my life!

Condolence: I was very fortunate to have met Mrs. Musgrave. I was lucky to have been referred to her care. She was an amazing lady full of knowledge and life. When I first went to her office I felt overwhelmed by all the information she knew and that was true. She reassured me that it would become natural and that I would be fine. She not only knew her stuff but she was caring and kind and full of support. She definately made an impact on my life and I still talk about her to this day. Thank you Mrs. Musgrave. May you rest in peace with your husband and family. Your memory will live on by all the lives you have touch. To your family and friends may their cherished memories bring them peace now and always.

Condolence: I have had the pleasure of knowing Katherine for 12 years. I first met her after receiving a referral to her when I was about 2 months pregnant with my first child. I remember her office with food cans and empty cereal boxes and her calculator. After giving me some great information on how to provide my son with what he needed, she then got down on the floor and demonstrated some exercises she wanted me to do. I could not believe my eyes on what she was able to do. We ran into each other over the years and later, I graduated from umo and witnessed her receive her doctorate. She was a special person and I am glad she was able to live life to the fullest.

Condolence: Words are inadequate to describe Kiki! She inspired people when she entered the room! I am so thankful for the gift of knowing her many years ago. My children loved her because she always made them feel special, and I am a better person because of her influence. She lives on in my memories, as she has for many years.
