Fond Memories

It was with great sadness that I recently heard of Dawn's passing away.  For many years I enjoyed working with Dawn as a special education teacher in her biology class.  The work load was always lighter and more enjoyable during these periods, and I learned from Dawn at least as much as our students.  Her presentation was very low key, well organized and multi-dimensional, trying to reach her students in a variety of ways to appeal to all.  We especially enjoyed her lessons stemming from a desert survival course she took in Arizona, and outside of class I gained further insight into what it was really like living in the Tuscon desert area.  I think she still held a special fondness for that part of the U.S.     Dawn always amazed me with her ability to recall facts and details, whether related to biology or stories of the many friends and family members she maintained contact with.  When mentioning someone in an email, she made it clear how that person's life story intertwined with her own, for each was important to her.      I wlll remember her as a very kind, gentle and giving person, whom it was my privilge to know.
