Bangor – MSGT (Ret.) Carroll D. “Pa” Colford, 82, died October 16, 2018, at a local hospital surrounded by his family. He was born December 1, 1935, in Old Town, the son of Earl and Helen (Dow) Colford.

Carroll graduated from Bangor High School class of 1954, and later attended Husson College. Carroll served in the U.S. Army for two years. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Maine Air National Guard where he was employed as a civil service technician for over 30 years. Carroll celebrated 30 years of marriage with his wife, Lucille, in September of 2018. He was a member of the Kenduskeag Lodge #137 A.F. & A.M. Carroll was also a member of the Veazie Salmon Club. He owned Lancasters Market in Veazie for 25 years.

In addition to his parents, Carroll was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret and Marilyn; a brother, Walter; and a sister-in-law, Gail Colford; his first wife, Mary Parent, and second wife, Cecile Cyr.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Lucille Colford, are his daughters, Leslie Suddy and her husband, Dennis, of Veazie, Sandra Britton, of Hermon; a sister, Theresa Kinney, of Georgia; brothers, Robert Colford and wife, Sharma, of Rhode Island, Lawrence Colford, of North Carolina, and Ray Colford and wife, Linda, of Orrington; grandchildren, Dennis “Buddy” Suddy, Dylan Suddy, and Nikki Rowe; he is also survived by many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M., Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, 429 Main St., Old Town. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Town. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the reception hall of the Holy Family Church following interment. Those wishing to remember Carroll in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Maine Parkinson Society, 359 Perry Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
