BANGOR - Galen S. Emery died unexpectedly October 16, 2018 at a local hospital. He was born December 28, 1936, in Guilford, the son of Dwight and Virginia (Hillyard) Emery. Galen graduated from Guilford High School with the class of 1955. Following graduation he served in the US Air Force, 4 years, stationed in New Hampshire and England during the Vietnam War era. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Guilford. Galen was a loyal member of the Eastern Maine Street Rod Club, a member of the Eagle's Club and Snowmobile Club in East Holden. He was also a member of the Jaycees in Dexter. Galen was employed by Prudential Insurance for extended period of time. After working for Prudential he was employed at Bangor Ford and various local car dealerships. In addition to his parents, Galen was predeceased by his sister, Loretta and brother, Warren. Surviving, in addition to his former wife of 50 years, Scarlett (Ricker) Emery, are three sons, Stuart C. Emery of West Hollywood, CA., Jeffrey L. Emery and his wife, Cathy, from Orrington, and their daughter, Allison L. Emery of Philadelphia, PA, and Gregory A. Emery and wife, Margaret from Poland, and their daughter, Lauren K., from Poland, a senior at University of Maine. He is also survived by two nieces, Rosanne and her children, Lori and Terry and Theresa and her children, Daren and Ashley. The family will like to extend many thanks and appreciation to the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer with The Rev. Steve Smith, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Orono, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 11am until time of service Saturday. Interment will be in Lawn Cemetery, Guilford. Those who wish to remember Galen in a special way may make gifts in his memory to St. Joseph Healthcare, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402-1638.
