Phyllis E. (Cobb) Toothaker Ricker
NEWBURGH - Phyllis E. (Cobb) Toothaker Ricker, 93, died peacefully at her home on July 9, 2018. She was born in Hampden Highlands, on the family farm, one of 12 children, on April 23, 1925, the daughter of Lillian B. (Condon) Cobb and Wilbur R. Cobb. Phyllis enjoyed working in her gardens, dancing, and sewing her many crazy quilts for family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting stamps, antique buttons, embroidery, driving, trips to the ocean, and she liked to speak her mind! Phyllis was always concerned about other people, helping when need be. Phyllis was known as "Nana" to everyone. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dale Ricker, her sisters, Dorothy, Bernice, Lillian, Laura, Annie, Olive, and Rowena; her three brothers, Warren, Wilbur, and Donald; a grandson, Gene Nealley; a great-grandson, Bryan Lufkin, and the father of her children, Vernon K. Toothaker. Surviving are five children, Sandra Nealley, Beverly Porter, Roger Toothaker and his wife, Jenny, Golda Toothaker, and Vernon L. Toothaker; eight grandchildren, Lori, Sonya, Mike, Lisa, Roger Jr., Raymond, Charity, and Joni; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Cobb; and several nieces and nephews. Special thank you to the nurses from Beacon Hospice and Home Care for the wonderful care and her granddaughter, Sonya. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Hampden Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Chapman Rd., Newburgh. Those wishing to remember Phyllis in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt.
