Obituary for Glynford Hatfield Stevens

Levant – Glynford H. Stevens, 78, died at his home on May 30, 2018. He was born August 28, 1939 in Boothbay Harbor, the son of Carroll and Marjorie Stevens.

Glynford served in the United States Navy, after which he was a long haul truck driver working for such companies as Hartt's and Pottle's Transportation. He was a longtime member of the Eagles Club, Penobscot Aerie #3177 of Brewer where he loved spending time playing cribbage with his friends. Glynford was an avid New England Patriots, and Boston Red Sox’s fan. Depending on which season it was, you could see their flag flying in his yard.

In addition to his parents, Glynford was predeceased by a sister, Carol Saunders. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sharon (Perkins) Stevens; daughter, Sonia Strevels and her husband, Kent, of Lakeland, FL; son, Daniel Stevens of W. Palm Beach, FL; two brothers, Frank Stevens and his wife, Ruth, of South Portland, and Gary Stevens and his wife, Kim, of Windham; two sisters, Sonia Smith and her husband, Michael, and Geraldine Handley and her husband, Jack, all of Lake Wales, FL; two step-sons, Everett Weeks of Germany and Charles Weeks of Bangor; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; many good neighbors and friends.

A graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 281 Civic Center Drive, Augusta, Maine 04333. Those wishing to remember Glynford in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Levant Fire-Rescue, 3917 Union St., Levant, Maine 04456.
