Obituary for Stephen Garrett Skratt

Stephen G. Skratt, 86, died April 12, 2018, at home peacefully. He was born August 25, 1931 in Staten Island, NY, son of Theodore and Geraldine (Cahoon) Skratt.

Stephen served in the US Army after which he moved to the family farm in Ontario, Canada where he spent the next ten years. He then moved to Stamford, CT where he met his wife Patricia. They moved to Hawaii for five years where he worked in the banking industry. They then moved to Hamden CT where he continued his career in banking services. After retirement in 2001, they moved to Hampden ME. He loved to read and frequented many area libraries and enjoyed attending events at St. John's Catholic Church, in particular the Organ Society's concerts.

Stephen was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Patricia (Ariotti) in 2015. Surviving are his brothers, T. Joseph Skratt and wife, Shirley of Picton, Ontario, Canada, John Skratt and wife, Helene of El Dorado Springs, CA, and Thomas Skratt and wife, Marcia of Winterport, ME; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. He will be missed by so many including his neighborhood friends, his friends at St Matthew's and St John's, as well as his Friday night supper “family”.

A Liturgy Outside of Mass and Rite of Committal will be held at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor, at a date and time to be announced in the spring. Those who wish to remember Stephen in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the St. John’s Organ Society, 207 York Street, Bangor, ME 04401.
