Karen A. Clendenning

GLENBURN - Karen A. (Higgins) Clendenning, 67, died on January 24, 2018 at her home in Glenburn. She was surrounded by her three children, puppies, and hospice staff. She was born July 14, 1950 in Bangor, the daughter of Douglas and Marion (Palmer) Higgins.
Karen graduated from Central High School, Class of 1969. Following graduation, she studied to be a Certified Nurses Aid. She held many jobs in this profession. She married the love of her life, Paul Clendenning on October 17, 1970. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before the passing of her husband on June 14, 2012.
Karen had many caretaking jobs throughout her life, but her favorite job was wife and mother. She raised three children and spent many hours gardening, cooking, and caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Higgins, a brother in law, Wayne Clendenning, and a sister in law, Linda Nelson. Surviving are her three children, a daughter, Dodie Smith and her husband Steven Smith and their two daughters, Kathryn and Abigail Smith; another daughter, Deborah Bowie and her husband James Bowie and their three children, Isabelle, Riley, and Owen Bowie; and a beloved son, Stephen Clendenning; and many nieces and nephews.
