Obituary for Louis Earl Treworgy

Orrington – Louis Earl Treworgy, 83, died peacefully, January 3, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born October 4, 1934 in Hampden, the oldest son of Lawrence and Mary Ellen (Pierce) Treworgy.
Louis graduated from Hampden Academy and took a double major in Pulp & Paper Technology and Chemical Engineering at the University of Maine, Orono where he graduated from in 1959.

Louis served two years in the U.S Army where he worked in the biological lab in Fort Detrick, Maryland. After his discharge from the army, he worked for 33 years at Eastern Fine Paper as a color quality paper control specialist.

Louis enjoyed painting and photography. He loved nature and gardening. Lou had worked as a carpenter so he made often whimsical wooden garden signs to decorate his garden. If he wanted a trellis or arch then he made one.

Louis is survived by his two brothers, Lauren Treworgy who provided a home for Louis and later visited him every week and Larry Treworgy and his wife, Nina, of Goffstown, New Hampshire; one sister, Loretta Foss of Bangor, who has been his long term caretaker with help from her husband, Ralph. He has one niece, Michele and her husband, Karl Robinson, of Nashua New Hampshire; two nephews, Kevin Foss of Bangor, and Jason Foss of Frisco, Texas; long- time special friend and cousin, Bernadine Hopkins of Foxboro, MA; one daughter, Angela and her husband, Peter Miller, of Unity; four grandchildren, Joshua, Susannah, Paula and Adam.

Lou was a long time resident of residential care at Maine Veterans' Home. As his health declined he became a resident of long term care where he liked to joke and laugh with the other residents. His family would like to thank the staff for all the quality care and good wishes that they provided for him. He will be missed.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer with the Rev. Carl B. Schreiber, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Spring interment with military honors will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Orrington. Those wishing to remember Louis in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Maine Veterans Home Activity Fund, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, Maine 04401.
