William Joseph Lawlor, 93, passed away November 4, 2017 at a Bangor hospital, with family by his side. He was born in Ellsworth, August 27, 1924, son of Christopher and Annie (Coffey) Lawlor.
Bill was brought up in Southwest Harbor, graduated from Pemetic High School and became a proud alumni. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country as a Combat Veteran in the European Theatre during WWII.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Maine Orono, with a degree in business administration.
He was a licensed real estate broker for 54 years. He owned Great Northeast Realty, worked for Cashman Associates and Dawson Bradford until his retirement at age 80.
Bill loved sports; especially local basketball and Yankee and Notre Dame games. He was a competitive runner, which began at the University of Maine and continued by competing in local road races, well into his 80’s.
This Irishman was a people person who enjoyed stopping by for a cup of tea and conversation.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Lawlor of 43 years; five children, Christopher Lawlor of Jacksonville, FL., Kathleen Emerson and her husband, Danny of Lagrange, Ann Dennis and her husband Edward of Eddington, Joe Lawlor and his wife, Ellen of Brewer, Theresa Lawlor of Glendale, AZ.; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Lawler of Bangor; nieces, Mary Jo Dempsey and Rhonda Morneault of Brewer.
Bill was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia Kennard and Rosemary Lawlor; a sister, Rosemary and a brother, Joseph.

Bill, who had been so active, fought a long hard battle with Parkinson’s disease. His caregivers made it possible for him to stay home, especially Emily Sharpe, who he referred to as “Em”.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 12 noon Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where relatives and friends are invited to call 11 am until time of service at 12pm. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, immediately following the service. The Rite of Committal, and military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
