Kathy Jean Libby, 64, passed away quietly in her home on October 10, 2017. She had found peace after a determined, courageous, positive struggle with ovarian cancer.
Kathy was born in Bangor, June 17, 1953, the daughter of Melvin “Red” and Phyllis L. Fowler, (aka Yankee Shoe).
Kathy enjoyed over 35 years as a hairdresser in the Bangor and Brewer area, having to retire due to the side effects of the chemo.
Kathy’s favorite times were always centered around a close loving family, cooking and time at the coast of Maine.
She was predeceased by her parents and an older sister, Gail Jean.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 18 + years, Donald E. Libby; her siblings, Ed, Diane Ehman and her husband, John, Susan Thibeault and her husband, Greg; special nieces and nephew Kellie, Toni, Amy, Matthew, Sarah, Ashley; her three “bonus” children, Heather A. Libby and her partner, Adrian Luckman, Jason A. and Shelly Libby and their children, Wyatt A. and Amanda Libby and their children and one “bonus” grandchild, Anika J. (Libby) Guthrie; brother-in-law, Ronald E. and wife Connie Libby and their families, sister-in-law, Brenda M. and husband Scott Chapman and their families.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at both CancerCare of Maine and VNA (Hospice) Care in Bangor.
A service in celebration of her life will be held 11 am. Friday, October 20, 2017 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where relatives and friends are invited to call 10 am. until time of service. The family invites all to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 center St., following the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, after the reception.
