Brewer - Catherine G. Wood, 88, died peacefully Monday, September 25th, 2017. She was born April 19, 1929, in Derby Line, Vermont the daughter of A. Norman and C. Grace (Wilkie) Flint. Catherine grew up in Sherbrooke, Quebec. At the age of 13, she met her future husband of 59 ½ years, Richard. Their high school years were filled with many fun-filled days biking to Ayers Cliff, golfing at Dufferin Heights and Lennoxville Golf Clubs, skiing trips and dancing in the evenings. Catherine graduated from Stanstead Wesleyan College. She enjoyed teaching elementary school in Stanstead and Sherbrooke. While Richard was on a three-day leave from the U.S. Navy, Catherine married her life-long sweetheart. After living for short periods of time in California, Texas, and Ohio, they settled in Brewer, Maine and raised their four children. Catherine really enjoyed her life in Brewer with her many friends, playing bridge and golf. She took great pleasure in being a member of All Souls Congregational Church. She participated in many church activities, including Couples Club, baking pies for the church fair, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She also served on a number of committees and on the Board of Deacons. Catherine enjoyed her time with Richard taking cruises all over the world, spending winters in Pass-a-Grille, Florida and summers at their camp on Cold Stream Pond in Lincoln. Catherine is survived by her daughters; Susan Pomeroy and her husband, Ronald, of Etna, Barbara Kenney and her husband, Tim, of Bradley and Victoria Podraza and her husband, Anthony, of Winterport; son, Victor Wood and his wife, Michaeleen, of Otis; brother-in-law, Roland Blunt, of Greenville Park, Quebec; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wood of Avon Lake, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jennifer MacPheters and her husband, Jamie, Kate Thibodeaux and her husband, Jason, Ryan Kenney, Christopher Kenney, Kayla Triplett and her fiancé, Benjamin Ingerson, Rachel Triplett, Rebecca Wood, and Emily Wood; a step-grandson, Nathan McCarthy; great-grandchildren, Parker and Reece MacPheters and Maddox Thibodeaux; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard and her sister, Elizabeth Blunt. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at All Souls Congregational Church 10 Broadway, Bangor with Rev. Chad Poland, Pastor of All Souls Congregational Church, officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Church Vestry.
