Rita L. Duplisea died May 18, 2017 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Karen Duplisea, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hermon on April 28, 1928, the second daughter of Linwood A. and Virginia E. (Light) Bowen. She graduated from Hermon High school and the Eastern Academy of Beauty Culture. She married Wayne E. Duplisea, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They were married for 62 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved being with her children and grandchildren.
She was a lifetime member of Essex Street Baptist Church, and the Sunshine Class. She was a volunteer at the Cake Baker’s program at BMHI, and Cole Land Transportation Museum.
Rita and Wayne visited much of the United States, (including Hawaii), Canada, and the Caribbean. They enjoyed many winters in Myrtle Beach, SC.
She is survived by two sons, Gary and wife Laura, of Holden, their children, Genna, of Newport RI, and Matthew, of Holden; Rodney and wife Karen, of Bangor; one sister, Virginia Gordon of Hermon; two sisters-in-law, Frances Bowen, of Hampden, and Mildred Higgins, of Lady Lake Fl; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, mother and father; three brothers , Raymond, Donald, and Stanley; and one sister Carla Leavitt.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 with Rev. Randy Wilbur pastor of the Essex Street Baptist Church officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
Those wishing to remember Rita in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Essex St. Baptist Church, 82 Essex St, Bangor, ME 04401. . Interment will be in the family lot at Mt. Hope Cemetery,.
