Obituary for Daniel William Hughes

Daniel William Hughes
BANGOR – My husband and my sons’ father, Daniel “Dan” Hughes, Sr., 60, left this world September 25, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 12, 1956 in Bangor, the son of Richie and Jackie Hughes.

Dan graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in 1974, where he met his sweetheart, Jenny Lynch, whom he married in 1977. Together they raised 3 sons, Danny Jr., Andrew, and Adam. He was so proud of his boys, and was overjoyed when the grandkids came along! Danny Jr. with Makayla, Austin and Gavin Hughes came first. Then Andrew, along with his wife Audrey (who Dan loved so much) brought him Desmond. Those 4 grandkids were the light of his life!

At the time of his passing, Dan had been employed as the Manager of the Bangor Elks Lodge #244. He had been an active member for over 40 years, P.E.R, having had the distinction of being the youngest Exalted Ruler in the country at the time.

In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by his sister, Diane. Surviving, in addition to his wife and sons and their families are his siblings Rick Hughes, Jr., Cathy French and her husband, Bill, Lisa Russell and her husband, Ritchie, Tom Hughes, and their families. He also leaves behind Jenny’s family; her mom, Roberta Lynch, siblings, Tom Lynch and his wife, Cheryl, Debbie Bourgoyne and her husband, Joe, Melanie Sites and her husband, Larry, Joe Lynch and his wife, Kerri, Don Lynch and his wife, Patty and their families. He will be greatly missed by his many close friends and fellow Elks.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held 2 to 5pm, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Bangor Elks Lodge, Odlin Road, Bangor where a memorial service will be conducted at 3pm. Those who wish to remember Dan in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the “Brianna Rachel Fund for Kids”, C/O EMMC Federal Credit Union, 489 State Street, Bangor, ME 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
