Obituary for David Cushman Jarvis

BANGOR – David C. Jarvis, 72, died August 16, 2016 at a Bangor hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born August 22, 1943, in Bangor, the son of Philip O. and Pearl (Cushman) Jarvis.
David graduated from Bangor High School in 1961 where he excelled in football and baseball. Following graduation, he attended the University of Maine for one year prior to joining the U.S. Army where he was enlisted as a Delta Project soldier. Upon completing his military service, he attended, and graduated from the University of Maine, in 1968, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Upon graduation, he married Jeanne C. Violette of Bangor, and raised one son, Robert. David was a career accountant and worked as a financial controller for several local companies until finally establishing his own practice here in Bangor. During that time he was an active member of the N.A.A. (National Accountants Association) and was the Maine Chapter President in 1980. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, attending Maine Hockey Games and was very proud of the dozens of rose and flower gardens he created at their home in Bangor. Most of all, David’s passion was trout fishing and he was proud to enjoy that with his father Philip, son, Robert, and brother-in-law, Nick.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Philip O. Jarvis Jr, and a daughter, Lori Jeanne Jarvis. Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years, Jeanne C. (Violette) Jarvis, are his son, Rob Jarvis and his wife Jaime, with whom David had a very special relationship, of Bangor; sister Linda (Jarvis) Collins and her husband Nicholas of Brewer; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Funeral Prayers and the Rite of Committal at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio St. Bangor, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
