Alex Xavier Vernon Chabre, 17, passed unexpectedly July 17, 2016. He was born August 30, 1998, in Bangor, the son of Jason V. Chabre and Kelly (Gowell) Mahar.

Alex was a loving brother who adored Batman comics and skateboarding. Music was another passion of his. He attended Bangor High School. He was quick to make everyone laugh and loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his father, Jason Chabre and stepmother, Vanessa of Saco; mother, Kelly Mahar and stepfather, Andrew of Bangor; brother Bowie and sister Ramona, of Saco; paternal grandparents, Vern and Lee Chabre of Glenburn; maternal grandparents, Marilyn and Rick Gaudet of Bucksport, Dan Gowell and Kathleen Goodwin of Bangor; maternal great grandmother, Gloria Gowell of Mechanic Falls; aunts and uncles, Michael Chabre of Glenburn, Walter and Kelly (Chabre) Dow, of Hermon, Amy MacDonald of Hallowell, Linwood Chase of Missouri, Whitney Gaudet of Bucksport, and Eric Tracy of Bangor; many cousins and extended family who loved him dearly. He will also be missed by many close friends, especially his girlfriend Haylie Gillespie and good friend, Dillon Leclair.

A celebration of Alex’s life will be held 3 pm, Friday, July 22, 2016, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
