Obituary for Irene Louise Beadnell (Rowe)

Bangor - Irene L. Beadnell, 93, died February 10, 2016 at a Waterville healthcare facility. She was born in Bangor November 24, 1922 the second child of Irving K. “Bing” and Hazel (Roundy) Rowe.

She graduated from Bangor High School Class of 1940. Irene attended the University of Maine at Orono for 3 years, majoring in Math and minoring in French. She was a member of Neai Mathetai in her freshman year, as she was one of the top ten highest ranking females in that class. She was an active member of Phi Mu sorority. She was employed with Brooks and Carter for 25 years as a CPA, retiring in 1990. Irene was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she was an active member of the church choir, performing many solos. Irene was an active member of the Orono Senior Citizens. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed working on genealogy and was an avid bowler for 30 plus years, traveling to National Tournaments for 24 years. Irene and her daughter Irene, made a pictorial history of the Beadnell and Rowe families covering periods from 1810 to 2010. She was a 13 year cancer survivor of non-hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her sister Grace Tozier. She is survived by her eight children, Lorraine M. Pelletier and her husband Michael of Vassalboro; Irene L. Peterson and her husband Bryant of Orono; Roberta L. Nichols of Blue Springs, MO; Herbert L. Beadnell and his wife Sharon of Saco; Dari L. Beadnell of Fresno, CA.; Charles L. Beadnell of Ebony, VA.; Marcia L. Thibodeau and her husband William of Glen, Allen, VA.; Russell L. Beadnell of Orono; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchild; sister Phyllis Martin of FL; niece Gloria Adams of Bangor.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, with Rev. Dr. David Henry, interim pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
