Obituary for Virginia Louise Davis

ELLSWORTH - Virginia Louise Davis, 95 went to be with the Lord Nov. 14, 2015. She was born January 15,1920 in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of Charles G. Hardwick and Josephine (Conover) Hardwick.

Virginia married Robert W. Davis and their children were born in NJ. The young family moved to ME and Virginia began her new life of creating a warm, loving home in rural Maine. She worked at many jobs outside the home; all while learning to cook wild game, preserve food, sew and knit. She loved family gatherings and celebrations, always looking forward to the next one. Family, animals, food, and babies were her delights.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert, of Trenton, predeceased Virginia. Surviving are sons Robert, Jr. of Hampden and his wife, Wendy, Richard of Lamoine, and his wife, Sheryl, and daughter Carolyn Davis Gilreath, of Lady Lake, FL. “Nana” leaves 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren along with several dear nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff At Seaport Village and of the former Collier’s Living Center for their loving care and friendship.

A graveside remembrance will be held at East Lamoine Cemetery in the summer. Donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to The Ark Animal Shelter, 60 Barber Lane, Cherryfield, ME 04662. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
