Elsie Mary  Harriman
UNITY - Elsie Mary Harriman, 97, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 with family by her side at Eastern Maine Health Care in Bangor. Mary was born in Howe, IN, the daughter of Dana and Gertrude Case. In 1945, she met and married Roland P. Harriman in San Luis Obispo, CA. After WWII, she and Roland moved to Prospect, Winterport, and then to Unity where they purchased a dairy farm. In 1972 they sold the farm and purchased Penobscot Bay Motel, Belfast which they ran for several years. They returned to Unity to enjoy their retirement years. Mary loved tending to her majestic flower gardens, and taking frequent walks to the library. She pursued her passion for reading, including poetry. Mary cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She couldn’t resist pictures of babies and puppies. Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Virginia Belden and Gay Marks. She is survived by her children Dana Harriman and wife, Sue; Dennis Harriman and companion, Doris; Katherine Gay Harriman; Mike Harriman and wife, Eileen; her grandchildren Christopher Harriman and wife, Judy; Kirk Ross and wife, Adri: Katherine Harriman; Jarod Harriman and wife, Jennifer; Sara Brown and husband, Josh; and Joshua Harriman and wife, Katherine; great-grandchildren Elijah, Zachary, and Samuel Ross; Kyle and Kassandra Brown; Elsa Johnson; Eden and Emma Harriman. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Waldo County Home Health and Hospice, 119 Northport Ave., Belfast, ME 04915.
