Obituary for Charles Alfred McKay

Charles “Charlie” McKay Sr., 84, passed away April 22, 2015. He was born November 4, 1930, in Portland the son of Percy and Marjorie (Tracey) McKay.

Charlie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For a good part of his life he worked as a truck driver working for himself and Merrill Transport, Charlie also was the owner of his own construction company, Charles McKay Construction. He was a Mason of the Carmel Lodge and an Anah Shriner.

He is survived by his first wife, Lois Chamberlain; children, Chuck McKay Jr., Sally Long, George McKay; a brother, George McKay; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and his longtime companion, Jean True. Charlie was predeceased by his son Gary McKay in 1978, and by his second wife, Beverly.

Friends may call from 5:30-7:30 PM, Friday, May 1st at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main Street, Brewer. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, May 5, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 200 Mt. Auburn Avenue, Auburn.
