Obituary for Karl Kenneth Gurschick

HERMON – Karl Kenneth “Ken” Gurschick, died February 20, 2015, at home with his wife by his side. He was born on March 4. 1947, in Rumford, Maine the first son of the late Karl Wenzel Gurschick and Evelyn (Wilbur) Gurschick.
He was a graduate of Stephens High School, then went to work in the family business; Twin Town Rendering Co. He was a member of the Winslow Jaycees. He continued in rendering when he moved in 1973 to Saint John, N.B. Canada where he became co-owner and manager of New Brunswick By-Products, Canada. He was a member of the Simons Loins Club. Ken enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling and earned his private pilot’s license. He moved back to Maine 1993 to work with his cousin Karl Gurschick. They ran a very successful K. Gurschick trucking firm. They worked out of Tewksbury, MA for Baker Commodities.
He is survived by his wife Dawn Lee Gurschick, three daughters all of New Brunswick, Canada; Katherine Gurschick, Kelley and her husband Gordon Peake, and Kristen Ouellet; two step-sons of Calgary Alberta, Canada, Ian Mosher and his wife Danielle and Bradford Mosher; five grandchildren, Stephen, Erin, Nicholas, Alex, and Taylor; two brothers, Keith and his wife Terry and Kirby and his wife Karen; two sisters, Kathy Gurschick and Karen Crowley; aunts, Eris Mason, Elaine Gurschick, and Johanna and her husband Stephen Morrison; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to Uncle Walter and Auntie Leona Gurschick and family for their love and support, and sincere gratitude to cousin Karl and his wife Mary Keith and family for all their help and support. Many thanks to our kind friends Jon and Julie Nadeau for all you do.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
