Obituary for Kevin Bruce Griffin

Kevin B. Griffin, 59, passed away peacefully at his home on December 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 20, 1954 in Bangor, son of Bruce D. and Joan (Briggs) Griffin.
Kevin graduated from Brewer High School Class of 1973. He attended Colby College and the University of Maine before graduating from the University of Nevada in 1977.
Kevin was an active member of the Bangor community, serving on boards for Bangor East Little League, Bangor Youth Hockey, Bangor Y and All Souls Congregational Church. Although he was a University of Nevada graduate, he was a Maine Black Bear at heart, and gave generously to the University of Maine Foundation and its sports programs. Kevin was the president of Roof Systems of Maine.
Kevin was happiest while spending time with family and friends skiing, golfing, camping and being outdoors. He was an avid golfer who was blessed with the best group of golfing friends around. During his three year battle with pancreatic cancer, these times became even more special.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Susan and his cherished children, Connor and Courtney; sisters, Karen Sturgeon and her husband Andy, Lisa Mitchell and her husband Sean; mother-in-law, Laura Jordan and her husband Richard; sister-in-law, Belinda Anderson and her husband Doug; brother-in-law, Brent Haynes and his husband, Peter Bergler; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Bruce D. Griffin and his father-in-law, Elmer “Bo” Haynes.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday December 17, 2014 at All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, Pastor and Teacher and the Rev. Renee U. Garrett, Minister of Christian Nurture, officiating. The family invites folks to share conversation and refreshments in the church vestry, following the service.
