Obituary for David Raymond Pilotte

David Raymond Pilotte
The Love of my life, David Raymond Pilotte, died in my arms on October 18, 2014. He was born June 9,1952, in Hayes, England, the son of Norris Raymond and Miriam Leonora [Murphy] Pilotte. As I sat and attempted to write this and describe this beautiful man and his life, putting words to paper was most difficult and does not do him justice! With honor and respect, I have tried. Words that speak of him best include gentle, creative, kind, generous, humble and loving.

Dave lived his life treasuring the gifts he was blessed with. They came in many forms. His musical talents revealed themselves starting in his youth, growing immensely and diversely throughout his life, giving him great pride. He was an insatiable reader with a true love for Charles Dickens and Stephen King. He delighted in his flair to pull off the element of surprise. Often with a glimmer in his eye, he lightened life with his humor. He always looked for the good in everything and everyone and his actions affirmed the value in others. Whether inspired by reading, listening or seeing, using his immense talents, he quietly and without fanfare, performed many acts of kindness. It is only in the storytelling since his death that some of these have been revealed.

He championed causes with passion, precision and service. He was proud to be a part of such organizations as EMMC Credit Union, Gifts of Music and Komen Race for the Cure.

His educational accomplishments include a Masters in Business from Husson College, a Masters in Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Administration, both from the University of Maine at Orono. He discovered that he was quite good at and enjoyed mathematics. He repeatedly talked about his gratitude of Don Sleight and Miles Theeman for their support during his educational pursuits.

There was also great pride in completing both a summer and a winter outward bound expedition. These expeditions led to his enthusiasm for journaling.

The LOVE OF HIS LIFE was his “Sweetie Pie”, his wife Jan. They shared unconditional love! She was present for him as a partner in all life ventures to his last breath.

He CHERISHED his pups, Emma, Bodie, and Daisy. He enjoyed their company whether it be simply sitting or going for a walk. Most of all he loved to give them treats.

He found great contentment in the presence of his wife and pups.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jan, and his three dogs. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff and fiancé, Shannon of Clinton; Uncle Roger Pelotte and wife, Becky of Albion; Uncle Don and wife, Maureen (Murphy) Veneziano of Hampden; Aunt Hilda Pilotte of Pacifica, CA; Uncle Harry Murphy and wife, Claire of Nevada. He is survived by several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Norris and mother, Miriam “Nora”.
brothers, Daniel and Patrick; grandmothers, Nanny Murphy and Memere Pelotte; special uncles, Bishop Donald Pelotte and Father Dana Pelotte; special aunt, Eileen Murphy. Of important mention, Dave was predeceased by his favorite four-legged friends, Buffy, Ginger, Sophie, Angus and Gracie.

Special thanks to nurses, Kevin, Lia, Elaine and Pam, Rev. Garrett,
Dr. Fachiol and all of our family and friends who supported me during this difficult time.
