Obituary for Ruth E. Colford (Henderson)

Ruth E. Colford, 84, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord, October 9, 2014. Ruth was born in Bangor, November 10, 1929, the daughter of Henry H. and Dorothy M. (Speed) Henderson.
Ruth spent much of her early years growing up on a farm in E. Corinth, surrounded by many relatives of her mother’s family. Later on, Ruth’s parents took their family to Brewer where she attended and graduated from Brewer High School. After graduation, Ruth took a job with Mack’s Bakery, where she worked until she married Roy F. Colford. Ruth and Roy raised three children together and spent many happy years until Roy’s death in 1983.
Ruth was a quiet and reserved woman by nature. She was a lifelong member of Glad Tidings Church and she took her responsibilities as a member very seriously. She raised her children in the church as well, teaching them that God should come first in all aspects of their lives. Ruth was a wonderful mother, and a loving grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by her only sister, Ethel Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Morse and her husband, Ronald of Eddington; sons, Rodney Colford and his wife, Janet of Brewer, and Dale Colford and his wife, Lori of Brewer; grandchildren, Dr. Sonya Lawlis and her husband, Robert, Steven Davies and his wife, Hillary, Crystal Blythe Colford, David Colford, and Corinn Colford; and great grandchildren, Connor and Carson.
Private interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
