Obituary for Forest Almond Bragg, Jr.

HERMON – Forest A. Bragg, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on October 5, 2014. He was born in Carmel, son of Forest A. and Helen C. (Bowen) Bragg Sr.

After graduating from Hermon High School, he joined the Air National Guard as an aircraft crew chief. Forest was called to active duty during the Korean conflict. After being released from the Guard he pursued a career in carpentry. When he was able Forest attended the Glad Tidings Church of Bangor where, for many years, he was a Sunday School Usher. He enjoyed working in his shop and could take lumber and make something beautiful. His grandchildren always had a project for him.

Forest is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Olive (Ogilvie) Bragg of Hermon; two daughters, Pamela Simpson and her husband, Richard of Hampden, Nancy Foster and her husband, Dale of Bangor; six grandchildren, Thomas Estes, Michelle Costa and her husband, Matthew, Kimberly Foster, Melissa Funari and her husband, Christian, Katie Martinello and her husband, Thomas and Matthew Foster; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Chase, Liam, Levi Funari and Olive Costa; one sister, Mary Souders of Hermon; a niece, Cathy and nephew, Mark.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor with the Rev. Ron Morris, Senior Pastor of Glad Tidings Church, officiating. Friends are welcome to call 1pm until time of service Wednesday. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, immediately following the service Wednesday. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon. Those who wish to remember Forest in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the memorial fund of Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401.
