Obituary for Helen Elizabeth "Betty" Tarr

GLENBURN – Helen Elizabeth “Betty” Tarr, 69, died August 25, 2014 at her home in the arms of her loving family. She was born January 19, 1945 in Bangor, daughter Leslie A. and Helen G. (Hughes) Pomeroy.

In Betty’s younger years, she worked outside her home but her greatest love was caring for her family. Betty had a special, unique kind of love, respect and genuine thoughtfulness, unconditional love for her family and everyone she knew. She always put her family before herself. If you ever received a card from Mom it would surely have had a smiley face. That was how she always looked at everything. She is now free of pain and years of suffering. She would always say: “there is someone a lot worse off than I am.” Betty was an avid camper and enjoyed owning, riding and pulling horses with her husband and father.

Surviving are her husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Tarr; two daughters, Vicki Mayhew and her husband, Frank, Kelley Dunton and her husband, Horace; five grandchildren, Christopher Tarr, Travis Dunton, Frank Mayhew IV, Jeffrey Mayhew, all of Glenburn and Jen Mayhew of Hampden; one great-grandson, Quintin Mayhew and one uncle, Harrison Pomeroy, both of Glenburn. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her sister, Jeanie Pomeroy.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7 pm Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a funeral service will be held 11am Friday, August 29th with pastor Stephen Hall officiating. Private interment will be in the Birch Grove Cemetery, Glenburn. Those who wish to remember Betty in a special way may make gifts in her memory in support of Julie Robshaw who is waiting a double lung transplant, care of Kelley Dunton, 241 Phillips Road, Glenburn, ME 04401.
